Camel Up

Description

Camel Up is a lively and unpredictable family and party board game designed by Steffen Bogen and published by Pretzel Games. It’s designed for 2–8 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about 30 minutes.

In Camel Up, players bet on a crazy camel race across the desert — but there’s a twist: camels can stack on top of one another, carrying others along when they move! It’s a game of luck, timing, and bold predictions, where you’ll cheer, groan, and laugh as the race unfolds.

The game won the prestigious Spiel des Jahres (Game of the Year) award in 2014.

🕹️ How to Play (Brief Overview)

1. Setup

   • The board is set up with a racetrack divided into spaces.

   • Five camels (in different colors) start at the beginning line, each with a die of its color.

   • Players receive betting tokens, money, and pyramid tiles.

2. Gameplay

   • On your turn, you can choose one action:

     • Roll a die: Take a pyramid tile, shake the pyramid dice roller, and move one camel according to the color and number rolled (1–3 spaces).

     • Bet on a leg winner/loser: Predict which camel will be in the lead or last at the end of the current round (leg).

     • Place a desert tile: Add an oasis (+1 space) or mirage (-1 space) tile to the track to influence movement.

     • Bet on the overall winner or loser: Riskier but higher rewards at the end of the race.

   • Camels that land on occupied spaces stack on top, and when they move, they carry any camels on their back  causing hilarious chain reactions!

3. Winning the Game

   • The race continues until one camel crosses the finish line.

   • Players earn money based on their successful bets.

   • The player with the most money wins and becomes the Camel Champion!
