Sleeping Queens

Description

Sleeping Queens is a delightful and imaginative card game designed by Miranda Evarts (at just 6 years old!) and published by Gamewright. It’s a light strategy and memory game for 2–5 players, recommended for ages 8 and up (younger kids can play too with guidance).

In this whimsical world, twelve queens are under a magical sleeping spell, and players compete to wake them up using clever tactics and card play. The game combines luck, memory, and light arithmetic, making it both fun and educational for kids and families.

🕹️ How to Play (Brief Overview)

1. Setup

   • Shuffle the deck and lay out 12 queen cards face-down in the center — these are the “sleeping queens.”

   • Each player gets a hand of 5 cards from the draw pile.

2. On Your Turn

   • You can play one card from your hand:

     • King 👑 — Wakes a queen! (Take a face-down queen and keep her face-up in front of you.)

     • Knight 🏇 — Steals a queen from another player (unless they block with a dragon 🐉).

     • Sleeping Potion 🧪 — Puts another player’s queen back to sleep (can be blocked with a magic wand ✨).

     • Number Cards 🔢 — Discard one or more number cards to draw new ones (can make math combos like 2+3=5).

3. Winning the Game

   • Be the first to collect a certain number of queens (or reach a point total), depending on the number of players:

     • 2–3 players → 5 queens or 50 points

     • 4–5 players → 4 queens or 40 points
